Winter

Winter

Wistlandpound in winter is a place of contrasts: still frosty mornings; crisp frozen leaves and dramatic storms that shroud the trees in thick mists and heavy rain! The bare trees allow wide views of the winter landscape and tracks are left in the snow from the night time activities of the forest animals. Winter is the time when waterfowl such as wigeon, teal, pochard and goldeneye make Wistlandpound reservoir their home. They fly thousands of miles to avoid the cold winter in their native homes of Russia and Finland.
