Where is Wistlandpound?
Wistlandpound is located
just off the A399 near
Barnstaple and is signposted
as Wistlandpound Reservoir.
Travelling by car
From the M5 leave at junction 27 and turn on to the A361 to Barnstaple.
Follow the A361 for 25 miles.
At North Aller roundabout take the third exit onto the A399. This will be signposted to Blackmoor Gate, Brayford & Lynton. Follow the A399 for 11 miles.
Continue along the A399 until you have passed the right turn for Challacombe and Minehead.
Take a left turn off the A399 (just after a parking lay-by on the left). This is signposted Calvert Trust Exmoor and Wistlandpound Reservoir.
Follow this road for approx. half a mile and drive into the Calvert Trust/ Discover Wistlandpound entrance and turn immediately left (following the arrow) into the Wistlandpound car parks.
Please note that there is a parking charge in place that helps support the facilities enjoyed at Wistlandpound along with Wistlandpound’s ongoing wildlife management.
Travelling by Train
The nearest train station to Wistlandpound is Barnstaple, which links to Exeter St David’s that serves most national rail routes. Barnstaple is around 10 miles away from Wistlandpound with taxi and bus services.
Travelling by Bus
The number 310 bus – Barnstaple-Lynton (Via Bratton Fleming) operated by First Travel can be caught from Barnstaple or Lynton. It travels past Wistlandpound Reservoir.
Wistlandpound Reservoir is situated between the stops for Blackmoor Gate and Bratton Fleming.
